N2O Decomposition by Catalyst-Assisted Cold Plasma

چکیده
Nitrous oxide (N2O) has been recognized as a relatively strong greenhouse gas. Heterogeneous catalytic processes have been mainly used to decompose N2O at high temperature. Characteristics of N2O decomposition by catalyst-assisted cold plasma were investigated in the present study. Tubular quartz reactor with annular-shaped electrodes was prepared and ruthenium catalysts supported on alumina pellets were packed in the reactor. We investigated the effects of space velocity, temperature, discharge voltage, and reactant compositions on the N2O decomposition. Ar plasmas broke strong bonds of N2O into NO, N, and O radicals. It was discovered that the radicals were more reactive on the active sites of the catalyst at low temperature.

Dynamics of N2O decomposition over HZSM-5 with low Fe content
The dynamics of N2O decomposition to gaseous nitrogen and oxygen over HZSM-5 catalysts with a low iron content (200 and 1000 ppm) was studied by the transient response method in the temperature range 523–653 K. The active catalysts were prepared from HZSM-5 with Fe in the framework on its steaming at 823 K followed by thermal activation in He at 1323 K. Two main steps were distinguished in the ...

We use density functional theory to describe a novel way for metal free catalytic reduction of nitric oxide NO utilizing borondopedgraphene. The present study is based on the observation that borondopedgraphene and O-N=N-O(-) act as Lewis acid-base pair allowing the graphene surface to act as a catalyst. The process implies electron assisted N=N bond formation prior to N-O dissociation. Two N2 ...

The reaction pathways of N2 and N2O formation in the direct decomposition and reduction of NO by NH3 were investigated over a polycrystalline Pt catalyst between 323 and 973 K by transient experiments using the temporal analysis of products (TAP-2) reactor. The interaction between nitric oxide and ammonia was studied in the sequential pulse mode applying NO. Differently labelled nitrogen and ni...
